School of Dance

The Cheboygan Area Arts Council has been conducting Dance Classes at The Opera House since 1986, under the direction of Judith Reichlin. Miss Judith gives instruction in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, and modern dance. As many as 50 of her current students have taken more than one dance class per session during the season.


Ballet	Character

Three ten-week sessions are held during each academic year, beginning the second week of September. Classes are held Mondays through Thursdays beginning at 4:00pm and running until approximately 9:00pm. Class size is limited to twelve students. Dance classes are billed at $6.00 per hour or $60.00 per ten-week session. Parents may pre-register their children anytime during June, July and August by calling the Arts Council office at 627-5432. Dance Registration Day is generally the fourth Monday in August from 3:00pm to 6:00pm in The Opera House Green Room.


Jazz	Ballet

It is the goal of both the Cheboygan Area Arts Council and Miss Judith to provide high quality instruction and promote appreciation for the art of dance by creating an atmosphere of discipline while guiding young people into the world of dance and all its opportunities.

Art Classes

The Cheboygan Area Arts Council has sponsored Fall and Spring Art Classes when there is enough interest for such classes. They normally run for eight weeks each. Two sessions are taught simultaneously; a one hour class for grades 3,4, & 5 and a one and one half hour class for grades 6, 7, & 8. Classes are held on Saturdays from 11:00am to Noon for the younger grades, and from 1:00pm to 2:30pm for the older grades. Fall Classes begin in September, and Spring Classes begin in February. Parents interested in independent classes for their children should notify the Cheboygan Area Arts Council Business Office - 231-627-5432. Classes will be limited in size to twelve students. A $50.00 fee, inclusive of all materials, is payable at registration.
